はじめまして、エルティング渡辺孝子と申します。
私は２０１１年８月にアメリカ・オレゴン州ポートランドに引っ越して
きてから、着物を自分で本格的に着るようになりました。
茶道をアメリカでも続けていくにあたって、
日本のように気軽に着付けてもらうというわけにはいかないので
着付けの練習を始め、お稽古の時には自分で着物を着ていくようになりました。
次第にアメリカでも着物でおでかけしたい！と思うようになり、
２０１２年６月より、着物が好きなお友達に声をかけ、
気軽に着物でおでかけをするグループ、「ポートランド着物倶楽部」の活動を開始。
２０１３年１１月、京都の着付け教室『鞠小路スタイル』代表の田中千衣子先生を
アメリカにお招きして、着付け講師養成コースを受講し、
２０１４年１月より初心者向けの着付け教室を始めました。
着物を持っているけど自分では着られない、興味があるけど一歩踏み出せない方、
アメリカに住んでいても（いるからこそ！）もっと身近に着物を感じて、
着物の楽しさを知ってほしいと思います。
世界に誇る美しい日本の伝統文化、Traditionなのですから！
様々な活動を通して、日本人はもちろん、国籍を問わず、
着物を愛する人、日本文化に興味がある人のお手伝いができればと願っております。

Takako Elting is from a small island in Kagawa prefecture in Japan. She moved to the United States in August 2011.
She learned about kimono at a kimono school in Kyoto, became a certified kimono instructor and started working as a kimono specialist from January 2014.
She teaches a kimono dressing class and does kimono photoshoots with photographers in Portland, Oregon.
In addition, she is the founder of the Portland Kimono Club, which was founded in 2012. Portland Kimono Club is a community of Japanese women in the Portland area with an interest in the kimono. Portland Kimono Club has regular activities including wearing the kimono and attending and volunteering at social events.
Takako started a new kimono community called “Enjoy Kimono Portland” open to anybody with an interest in the Kimono and Japanese culture.
